Administrative Office
Continuing Education Center (CEC) was established since 2004 under technical and financial supports from Simon Fraser University and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) through a project on Adult Education for Economic Development. Royal University of Phnom Penh’s CEC offers a variety of courses, intensive trainings, workshops, and conferences, for adult learners who seek to expand their intellectual interests, to improve and broaden their professional preparation, or simply to advance their university degree inspirations.
General Information
RUPP’s CEC is dedicated to promoting individual and community economic status and providing Cambodian of all ages, professions, ethnicities, and background with a wide variety of lifelong learning opportunities.
Goal
- To inform and enrich working and non-working adult learners through educational activities that are designed to develop their professional, personal, and social skills and to enhance their acquisition of knowledge.
- To enhance the economic development of Cambodian communities by upgrading the competencies of the labor force and organizational effectiveness in areas relevant to the vision of the CEC.
- To upgrade degrees of Cambodian learners by providing Distance Education Programs at RUPP.
Vision
RUPP’s CEC endeavors to create stimulating and supportive learning environments and opportunities to ensure learners successes. To achieve this mission, CEC plans, designs, and delivers programs for working and non-working adults through needs assessment studies and through partnership discussions with community groups, government agencies, non-government organizations and private sectors.
Mission
RUPP’s CEC has its current office located in Room 214A of the Royal University of Phnom Penh’s main campus where a meeting room is shared. Another meeting room which has newly been established is located at Building B of the main campus of RUPP. Besides, it has one computer lab in Room 315A, one classroom in Room 217A, and four other classrooms in Building B of RUPP’s main campus. All CEC’s classrooms, computer lab, and office are well equipped with air conditioners, LCD projectors (removable), good white boards and other facilities as well as computer network infrastructure and the Internet access. CEC has also two IBM Servers where E-learning resources and applications are installed for the future Distance Education at RUPP.

RUPP’s Continuing Education Center has designed, developed, and offered a number of courses where durations range from few weeks to more than six months. Each course is generally offered based on the needs of learners. However, CEC has involved in training Cambodian gifted students who are selected by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to participate in regional and international competitions such as International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists (SSYS), International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad (APMO), International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA)
where the curriculums are based on what is available in the competitions. The courses provided to Cambodian gifted students to prepare for the competitions include Physics, Mathematics, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Research Methodology, and so on. Since its establishment in 2004, CEC has developed and offered (on campus/outside campus) a number of courses such as
